Slayer released their twelfth and final album, Repentless.
The album received generally positive reviews from critics and debuted at number 4 on the Billboard 200, making it the highest-charting debut from the band in the United States. It also topped the chart in Germany and featured in the top ten of almost twenty charts around the world.
Repentless is also the band's only album recorded without guitarist Jeff Hanneman, who tragically died from liver cirrhosis in 2013 and was replaced by Exodus guitarist Gary Holt (though Hanneman did receive songwriting credits on the song "Piano Wire").
