Sadus released their second studio album, Swallowed in Black.
The album is more melodic and intricate than its predecessor, Illusions, but if there is anything that remains perfectly status quo in comparison to their first LP, it's the way Sadus manage to stand poised right on the borderline between thrash and death metal. Even with its ever-so slightly toned down speed and aggression, Swallowed in Black still rages with seemingly endless stores of hate and hostility.
Swallowed in Black is a perfect snapshot from the precarious brink of extreme metal's first glance at greater exposure and major label support. The album is now considered a quintessential release of its time and has since been reissued on multiple occasions.
